1. Position Summary:

 

The Assisted Living Community Support is responsible for supporting the increased demands on the Assisted Living structure as a result of COVID-19 pandemic. The Assisted Living Community Support will offer assistance to the Administrative Assistant, Resident Assistants and Nursing, Activity Coordinator and SASH Coordinator as needed to help with a variety of tasks influenced or increased by the restrictions on community procedures due to the pandemic. Practices all safety measures put in place by the facility to ensure safety of residents from COVID-19, including but not limited to wearing a surgical face mask covering mouth and nose at all times, practicing impeccable hand hygiene and maintaining appropriate social distancing.

 

  1. Principal Responsibilities:

 

  1. Assists Administrative Assistant with daily tasks related to COVID 19.
  • Screens and schedules in-person visits with family and friends of Assisted Living residents.
  • Maintains knowledge of current VT State COVID travel restrictions and CSAL visitor policy.
  • Screens visitors upon arrival and documents temperature and answers to screening questions.
  • Communicates with Resident Assistants for their assistance helping residents down to visit on time.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting before and after a family visit and as necessary.
  • Supports management and organization of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) inventory (ie. surgical masks, cloth masks, gloves, face shields, N95 respirators, gowns, hand sanitizer, etc.)

 

  1. Helps deliver resident meals.
  • Communicates with Resident Assitants and Kitchen Staff to deliver meals during lunch and dinner service.
  • Supports preparation of lunch carts to ensure drinks, condiments and necessary utensils are stocked for delivery.
  • Supports kitchen in boxing meals if necessary.
  • Ensures all meals are accounted for and residents with special diets are provided their appropriate meal.
  • Delivers meals to residents in their apartments.
  • Offers to transfer meal to plate and microwave for residents.
  • Collects empty containers after residents are finished and brings to kitchen to be rinsed and recycled.
  • Assists with rinsing and recycling if needed.

 

  1. Supports other daily tasks for Nursing, Activity Coordinator and SASH Coordinator.
  • Supports Zoom, FaceTime and/or Skype appointments for telehealth or family/friend visits.
  • Provides escort services to medical appointments as necessary.
  • Participates in the resident activity program at the direction of the Activities Coordinator.
  • Provides social interaction with residents.
  • Supports increased social needs as a result of isolation due to COVID restrictions.
  • Informs CSAL staff immediately of any observed physical or cognitive concerns.

 

  1. Communicates effectively with others and performs other general duties as required.
  • Works independently and as part of a team to carry out job duties.
  • Communicates in a positive and respectful manner with residents, co-workers, visitors and family members.
  • Maintains all certifications required for employment and participates in on-going educational in-service trainings to meet 12 hours per year.
  • Attends daily report meeting.
  • Attends CSAL and CSC staff meetings as required.
  • Assists the Supervisor with other duties as assigned.
  • May perform general clerical functions including filing and answering the phone.*

  1. Minimum Qualifications:

 

Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.  Prior work experience in a community setting with people who are elderly or disabled is preferred.  Must be able to think, act and intervene appropriately in both routine and emergency situations.  Must possess good interpersonal communication skills and be able to relate to a wide variety of people.  Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.  Must be flexible and adaptable to changes in the work environment, including scheduling changes and work assignments.

 

  1. Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

 

  • Exposure to body fluids, infection and odors and behavior of residents.
  • Exposure to chemicals and cleaning solutions.
  • Must be able to walk four miles daily.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, stand, bend, squat, crawl, reach and kneel using good body mechanics for sustained periods of time.
  • Must be in good health and demonstrate the ability to cope with the physical, mental and emotional demands of the position.
