The health and safety of our residents and staff is our top priority. In addition to our standard procedures that consistently earn top scores for health and safety, at this time we have extra precautions in place as we work together to keep the coronavirus at bay. We are more frequently cleaning and sanitizing common surfaces, sanitizing residents’ apartments, social distancing, closing common spaces to prevent gatherings, and limiting visitors to those providing essential services only.

 

Assisted Living Community Support

The Assisted Living Community Support is responsible for supporting the increased demands on the Assisted Living structure as a result of COVID-19 pandemic. The Assisted Living Community Support will offer assistance to the Administrative Assistant, Resident Assistants and Nursing, Activity Coordinator and SASH Coordinator as needed to help with a variety of tasks influenced or increased by the restrictions on community procedures due to the pandemic. Practices all safety measures put in place by the facility to ensure safety of residents from COVID-19, including but not limited to wearing a surgical face mask covering mouth and nose at all times, practicing impeccable hand hygiene and maintaining appropriate social distancing.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior work experience in a community setting with people who are elderly or disabled is preferred
  • Must be able to think, act and intervene appropriately in both routine and emergency situations
  • Must possess good interpersonal communication skills and be able to relate to a wide variety of people
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to changes in the work environment, including scheduling changes and work assignments.

SASH Coordinator

The primary function of the Support and Services at Home (SASH) Coordinator is to build trusting relationships with participants in SASH in order to develop a thorough knowledge of each SASH participant’s strengths and challenges as they pertain to remaining safely in his or her home.  The SASH Coordinator (SC) convenes the on-site SASH team on a regular basis to coordinate care and services to meet the needs of SASH participants.  The SC identifies and proactively responds to the underlying causes of any resident or community problems and/or issues and involves his/her Supervisor as needed. The SC organizes and facilitates resident meetings on a monthly basis and serves as key on-site contact for issues relating to housekeeping, noise, site disturbances, etc.  The SC issues lease violations and warning to residents and works with his/her supervisor on enforcement of the lease and resident handbook.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a Bachelors Degree in Social Work or equivalent combination of background and experience
  • Previous experience coordinating services specifically for the senior or adult with disability client population is preferred
  • Knowledge of area resources and programs available to seniors and adults with disabilities, including transportation, health services, and recreational activities is essential
  • Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication is required
  • Must have knowledge of and an appreciation for the heritage, values, and wisdom of each resident and a commitment to the philosophy of a person’s choice to age at home
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • A working knowledge of MSWord and Publisher is highly desirable

LPN/RN

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) provides care and services to residents who are functionally, physically or socially impaired at our assisted-living residence in downtown Burlington, under the direction of the LPN supervisor. They provide nurse duties within their scope of license, including assessment, treatment, and medication management and administration. The LPN/RN provides on-call clinical consultation to staff as needed and supports a philosophy of aging in place consistent with the mission of Cathedral Square and in compliance with State of Vermont Level III Assisted Living/Residential Care Home regulations.

Qualifications

  • Current Vermont LPN or RN license
  • Ability to think, act and intervene appropriately in both routine and emergency situations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to a wide variety of people
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and respond appropriately in both routine and emergency situations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in long-term care setting and prior supervisory experience preferred.

Maintenance Technicians

Maintenance Technicians are responsible for a full range of property-maintenance duties, including painting, heating and ventilation troubleshooting and repair, responding to work orders, minor plumbing and electrical work, snow shoveling, and landscaping. Daily assignments vary depending on the site and the availability of other maintenance staff. Will have on-call duties for maintenance emergencies on a rotating basis.

Qualifications

  • Valid Vermont driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to perform physical activities associated with maintenance work
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year of experience in property maintenance preferred

Resident Assistants

Are you a compassionate person with a heart for care giving? We are seeking caring, positive, reliable people to support residents who are physically and/or cognitively impaired. You’ll join a casual but professional close-knit team and work at either our downtown Burlington assisted-living residence or our specialized memory-care community in Williston. Experience working with elders preferred but not required – we provide paid training! Our Resident Assistants understand and value the need for residents maintain a high quality of life. You’ll help by providing an open ear and support with personal care and daily activities, including dressing, eating, hygiene and taking medications.

NOTE: Special precautions are in place at this time to ensure the safety and health of our staff and residents, including additional sanitation, restricted access and social distancing.

Qualifications

  • Compassion, positive attitude, strong work ethic, reliability, and able to “go with the flow” as needed, and
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to relate to a variety of people
  • Able to think, act and intervene appropriately in both routine and emergency situations
  • Able to lift, carry, stand, bend, squat, crawl, reach and kneel using good body mechanics for sustained periods of time (think of the steps you’ll get in!)
  • Able to communicate effectively in writing for the purpose of documentation and keeping records
  • LNA certification and prior experience as a nursing assistant or aide to people who are elderly or disabled is a plus.

Cook

The cook prepares and serves meals in a friendly, professional manner to Memory Care residents. The Cook’s responsibilities involve all facets of kitchen operations including ordering, preparing, serving, cleaning, receiving, inspecting and rejecting orders, and the monitoring of all kitchen equipment. The Cook is required to have on-call duties to cover for the Manager of Food Service.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to read and follow instructions, recipes and resident information as well as perform basic math
  • Flexibility in working schedule and weekend/ holiday availability
  • Must possess good interpersonal communication skills and be able to relate to a wide variety of people
  • Prior experience working with seniors or individuals with disabilities is preferred
  • Prior cooking experience is preferred
