Position Summary:

Performs a variety of cleaning duties in common areas including vacuuming, dusting, mopping, cleaning carpet, buffing, stripping and waxing floors.

Principle Responsibilities:


  1. Clean Common Areas
    1. Clean dining rooms.
    2. Clean laundry rooms.
    3. Vacuum common areas.
    4. Vacuum office areas if applicable.
    5. Clean common bathrooms.
    6. Clean staff bathrooms.
    7. Perform buffing and waxing of floors.
    8. Maintain building accessibility and appearance including trash removal.
    9. Snow removal of sidewalks
  2. Maintain Equipment and Supplies
    1. Inventory cleaning supplies and order through Supervisor.*
    2. Insure all cleaning equipment is in safe and proper working condition.
  3. Perform other general duties
    1. Work independently and as part of a team to carry out job duties
    2. Communicate in a positive and respectful manner with residents, co-workers, family members and visitors.
    3. Provide back-up for other custodial staff as needed.
    4. Attend CSC staff meetings and other staff meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must possess a High School diploma or equivalent.  Prior cleaning experience preferred.   Prior experience working with seniors or individuals with disabilities preferred.  Good communication skills and a friendly demeanor are required.  Must be detail-oriented.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

  1. Exposure to chemicals and cleaning solutions.
  2. Must be able to lift/push up to 25 pounds.
  3. Exposure to body fluids, infection, odors and behavior of residents.
  4. Must be able to walk, lift, carry, stand, bend, squat, reach and kneel using good body mechanics for sustained periods of time.
  5. May operate buffer and snow removal equipment.
