This year's roster recognizes leaders across business, healthcare, nonprofits, technology, and public service who are shaping Vermont's future. In a profile shared by VermontBiz, Kim reflected on a career spent entirely in affordable housing, including seven years at VHFA followed by 25 years at Cathedral Square. She described representing and supporting low-income, older Vermonters as work she finds deeply meaningful and named being selected as Cathedral Square's CEO after a nationwide search as one of the greatest honors of her career. Cathedral Square, a leading nonprofit committed to addressing the critical need for affordable housing for older adults and people with diverse needs in Vermont, has appointed Kason Hudman, Director of Operations at the Peace & Justice Center, to its Board of Directors. “Our mission depends on staying close to the communities we create, and Kason has spent his career doing exactly that kind of listening and organizing,” said Cathedral Square CEO Kim Fitzgerald. “His perspective on equity and inclusion will strengthen how we serve residents across all of our communities.”

In Vermont, there are few issues bigger than the challenge in finding affordable housing, especially for seniors. For Kim Fitzgerald, helping older Vermonters is a part of who she is.

Two women with long-standing experience in the Support and Services at Home (SASH®) program have been named to the top leadership posts of the statewide program. Liz Genge of Montpelier is the new director, and Casey Doerner RN of East Ryegate is the new assistant director. They will oversee SASH teams throughout Vermont that provide support and coordinate personalized care and programming for the approximately 5,000 Medicare recipients enrolled in the program.
The “2021 Outstanding Service-Learning Community Partner Award, COVID edition” recognizes “partners who went above and beyond to ensure that students were able to participate in service-learning experiences even during the pandemic.” The two are sharing the award.
