Housing Incentive Program

We are working to become part of the solution to ending homelessness in Vermont.

Drawing on our experience, expertise, and success in innovating around housing and services, we developed the Housing Incentive Program (HIP) which will support persons and families coming from homelessness to be successfully housed over the long term.

FLEXIBLE SUPPORT & SERVICES

  • Embedded support services: Comprehensive support services available on-site, including our nationally recognized SASH model, service coordination, wellness nursing, mental health support from a SASH Emotional Wellness Clinician, and retention services from a SHINES coach.
  • Wellness programs: On-site wellness programs and an annual health assessment offered by a SASH wellness nurse.
  • Community programs: Regular community-wide group programs offered to build peer relationships, reduce stigma around formerly homeless residents, and create a healthy and engaged community environment.
  • Monetary incentives: Monetary incentives offered to participants at certain stages over time to motivate and sustain progress toward goal achievement. Support activities offered based on participant’s interests and goals.
  • Emergency funds: Escrow account funds available as a last resort for residents during difficult times to keep rent current and avoid eviction.
  • Resident Advisory Group: Resident Advisory Group created by CS which includes members with lived experience from each participating community and advises on challenges, ideas for improvement, etc.

OUR SPONSORS:

SUPPORT HIP THROUGH THE HINES FAMILY FUND

You can support this program and help us end homelessness in Vermont by giving a gift today! Any donation makes a difference.

Our goal is to raise $150,000 to support a total of 60 participants in our initial pilot. This program is already having a tremendous impact on not only those enrolled, but also their neighbors and surrounding communities. In fact, we named our HIP fund the ‘Hines Family Fund’ in honor of our first two HIP participants, brothers James and John Hines. During his first six months living in a Cathedral Square community, James participated in life-saving measures, along with several other residents at Juniper House, when a visitor was found unconscious. You can read more about James and John's HIP success stories in our 2024 Annual Report

If you have questions about this program or would like to learn more about sponsorship opportunities, please reach out to Kim Fitzgerald at: fitzgerald@cathedralsquare.org

Please be sure to list your name below as you would like it to appear in our annual report. If you would like your gift to remain anonymous, please reach out to Joanne Lewis at: lewis@cathedralsquare.org
