Resident Assistant

Resident Assistants provide compassionate care and support to Cathedral Square residents who are physically and/or cognitively impaired. They work as part of a close-knit, casual and professional team at Cathedral Square Assisted Living in downtown Burlington and/or at Memory Care at Allen Brook, our specialized memory-care community in Williston. They help residents maintain a high quality of life by providing an open ear and helping them with personal care and daily activities, including dressing, eating, hygiene and medications. Experience working with elders is preferred but not required, as we provide paid training!

NOTE: Special precautions are in place at this time to ensure the safety and health of our staff and residents, including additional sanitation, restricted access and social distancing.

Qualifications

  • Compassion, positive attitude, strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to “go with the flow” as needed
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to a variety of people
  • Able to think, act and intervene appropriately in both routine and emergency situations
  • Able to lift, carry, stand, bend, squat, crawl, reach and kneel using good body mechanics for sustained periods of time (think of the steps you’ll get in!)
  • Able to communicate effectively in writing for the purpose of documentation and keeping records
  • LNA certification and prior experience as a nursing assistant or aide to people who are elderly or disabled is a plus.

Maintenance Technician

Responsible for a full range of property-maintenance duties, including painting, heating and ventilation troubleshooting and repair, responding to work orders, minor plumbing and electrical work, snow shoveling, landscaping and custodial. Daily assignments will vary due to the site and availability of other maintenance staff. Will be on call for maintenance emergencies.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of experience in property maintenance. Must have a valid Vermont driver’s license and reliable transportation. Ability to perform physical activities associated with maintenance work is required.

Hours and locations: 40 hours/week, various locations

Maintenance Technician Supervisor

The Supervisor of Maintenance is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations of building maintenance for all CS properties. They supervise the maintenance staff and collaborate with the Assistant Facilities Manager and Housing Managers regarding site needs in order to maintain quality housing for residents.

Qualifications

Must possess a high school diploma and at least 5 years of relevant maintenance experience including heating, electrical and plumbing skills, painting, floor care, and janitorial work. Must possess a valid driver's license, dependable vehicle and clean driving record. They must be able to travel to property sites. Prior supervisory experience and computer skills in MS Word and Excel are required.

Hours and location: 40 hours/week at Grand Way Commons (South Burlington)

SASH Coordinator

The primary function of the Support and Services at Home (SASH) Coordinator is to build trusting relationships with participants in SASH in order to develop a thorough knowledge of each SASH participant’s strengths and challenges as they pertain to remaining safely in his or her home. The SASH Coordinator (SC) convenes the on-site SASH team on a regular basis to coordinate care and services to meet the needs of SASH participants. The SC identifies and proactively responds to the underlying causes of any resident or community problems and/or issues and involves his/her Supervisor as needed. The SC organizes and facilitates resident meetings on a monthly basis and serves as key on-site contact for issues relating to housekeeping, noise, site disturbances, etc.

Qualifications

Must possess a Bachelors Degree in Social Work or equivalent combination of background and experience. Previous experience coordinating services specifically for the senior or adult with disability client population is preferred. Knowledge of area resources and programs available to seniors and adults with disabilities, including transportation, health services, and recreational activities is essential. Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication is required. Must have knowledge of and an appreciation for the heritage, values, and wisdom of each resident and a commitment to the philosophy of a person’s choice to age at home. Must possess a valid driver’s license. A working knowledge of MS Word and Publisher is highly desirable.

Hours and locations: 30 hours/week at McAuley Square and Ruggles House (Burlington)

Housing Manager

The Housing Manager is responsible for overseeing the building and rental operations at the properties he/she is assigned to, including; building a trusting relationship with residents, creating a sense of community among residents, and maintain compliance of all regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Must possess a high school diploma. A degree in Social Work, Business or related field is preferred. At least one year of experience managing properties and knowledge of HUD, LIHTC and other applicable housing regulations is preferred. Prior experience working with seniors or individuals with disabilities and knowledge of community services available for seniors is preferred. Must possess good interpersonal communication skills and be able to relate to a wide variety of people. The ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations and display good decision-making abilities is critical to the success of this position. Must possess good analytical skills and the ability to work with Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Publisher. Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Hours and locations: 30 hours/week at Whitney Hill (Williston) and Richmond Terrace (Richmond)

LPN

Provides care and services to residents who are functionally, physically or socially impaired within the scope of license at our Memory Care Residence, under the direction of the RN. Provides charge nurse duties to include medication management and administration, assessment, treatment, and supervision of direct care staff. The LPN will also be required to provide on-call clinical consultation to the staff as needed. They support a philosophy of aging in place consistent with the mission of assisted living and in compliance with the State of Vermont Level III Assisted Living/Residential Care Home regulations.

Qualifications

Must possess a Vermont LPN license. Experience in long-term care setting preferred, but willing to train the right person. Able to think, act and intervene appropriately in both routine and emergency situations. Must possess a high degree of interpersonal communication skills to relate with a wide variety of individuals. They must have demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment. Must possess strong organizational and time management skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Prior supervisory experience preferred.

SASH Wellness Nurse

The Wellness Nurse is responsible for provision and/or oversight of wellness care and coaching for SASH participants in accordance with Vermont's Nurse Practice Act. S/he is responsible for overseeing the well-being of participants and in coordinating health services with other members of the SASH Team and other community providers. S/he supports a philosophy of aging in place consistent with the mission of SASH. The Wellness Nurse will also work with the SASH Team on developing individual participant Healthy Living Plans as well as Community Healthy Living Plans.

Qualifications

The Wellness Nurse must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Vermont. Must possess at least two years of experience in a clinical setting, committed to an aging in place philosophy. He/she must have demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment. He/she must have knowledge of standard record keeping procedures (i.e. progress notes, HIPAA guidelines). Must be able to work independently and part of a team and possess strong organizational and time management skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Hours and locations: 5 hours/week in the Old North End community (Burlington), 5 hours/week at Swanton School (Swanton), 5 hours/week at Pine Manor (Grand Isle), 8 hours/week at Bayview Crossing (South Hero), 3 hours/week at Thayer House (Burlington), and 8 hours/week in the Burlington community

Foot Care Nurse

The Foot Care Nurse provides foot care services and assessment to variety of Cathedral Square residents and SASH participants. Every client receives complete toenail care as well as a thorough foot assessment at each clinic visit. The clues to systemic diseases, past medical compromises, nutritional impairments, psychosocial issues, and so much more may stem from a simple?foot?and nail assessment. The Foot Care Nurse operates under safety standards put out by the ANA and stays compliant with HIPAA regulations. Always keeping the client as the main focus, The Foot Care Nurse fosters trusting relationships being a reliable and visible presence in the community while providing a necessary service.

Qualifications

Must possess a Vermont RN or LPN license. Experience and/or Certification in Foot Care services is preferred. Able to think, act and intervene appropriately in both routine and emergency situations. Must possess a high degree of interpersonal communication skills to relate with a wide variety of individuals. This individual must have demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment. Must possess strong organizational and time management skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Performs a variety of cleaning duties in common areas including vacuuming, dusting, mopping, buffing and waxing floors.

Qualifications
